Professional Development Opportunity

Are you attending the Dual Enrollment: Accelerating Educational Attainment Virtual Conference? The Conference is Thursday, September 23-24, 2021. I received the full schedule on Monday. With so many outstanding options, I found it hard to choose which workshops to attend. A great benefit of virtual conferences is recordings. I have a feeling I will need to block off some personal, professional development days to dive into the sessions I don't attend live.

Comprehensive Database

By recommendation of our SIG Member Mr. Akima Rogers, we have created a document to serve as a comprehensive database of our institutional directives for our early middle college programs. As time permits, you can contribute to this document by:

  1. Adding your institutional information,
  2. Sharing with colleagues who can add institutional information,
  3. Adding additional columns to expand the depth of this database,
  4. Save this database as a bookmark and return to it, and
  5. Outreach to colleagues for more information.

Creating this comprehensive database will efficiently access our program features, benchmark efforts and allow for a specific engagement between one another where applicable. Feel free to utilize multiple lines to delineate different programs for your institution. Please be mindful to not delete or modify other institutions' information. Access here

Legislation Updates

A consortium of dual enrollment organizations and advocate groups submitted recommendations to the Biden Administration for consideration and implementation into the American Families Plan. The College in High School Alliance shared central recommendations below:

  1. Include dual enrollment programs in plans to offer two years of free community college.
  2. Increase college retention and completion rates.
  3. Help current teachers earn in-demand credentials.

Are we missing anything? Feel free to share additional information that can benefit members of our Special Interest Group.
