CAPACRAO Launches a Dual Enrollment SIG for Chesapeake and Potomac Area Colleagues

What is dual enrollment?
Sometimes called “dual credit,” “dual enrollment,” “college in the high school,” or “early college."
A Department of Education Report outlined that "Dual Enrollment programs require a partnership between a school or district and a local institution of higher education. Courses offered can be academic or career/technical and [high school] students earn college credit by passing the course. Students may or may not simultaneously earn high school credit (i.e., dual credit) but their college performance is documented on a transcript."
The objectives of Dual Enrollment SIG are:
- Facilitate quarterly meetings for Dual Enrollment higher education representatives (two-year and four-year colleges) in the Chesapeake Region to include Maryland, DC, and Virginia,
- Discuss hot topics in Dual Enrollment,
- Offer legislative, research, and program updates,
- Interchange training opportunities and best practices,
- Create a repository of information to improve student and program access, equity, and success.

The listserve will be opened to all interested Dual Enrollment colleagues in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia including those without a current CAPACRAO membership. Your benefits will be limited to engaging in the listserve only.
