CAPACRAO Executive Board Member Selected as AACRAO State & Regional Vice Chair

Johnika Dreher, CAPACRAO Past President (2022-2023) was selected as State & Regional Relations Vice Chair. She will transition to Chair during the 2024 Annual AACRAO Conference in Columbus, Ohio.

AACRAO and the state and regional associations (ACRAOs), such as CAPACRAO, share the same basic goals of enhancing not only the profession but also the professional development of the individual members. One of the fundamental strengths of our profession is the vitality of strong, active state and regional associations. These associations provide members with many professional development activities and opportunities and generally are instrumental in forging the informal networks that exist throughout the country.

Johnika joined as a member of CAPACRAO in 2018 and she has served as Vice President for Programming (2019-2021), Vice President for Communications (2021), President-Elect (2021), President (2022) and currently serves as Past-President (2023). While a member of CAPACRAO, Johnika launched the Dual Enrollment Special Interest Group in partnership with Caitlin Minch to create a community for dual enrollment leaders at the forefront of the Maryland Blueprint legislation. In 2022, she graduated from AACRAO's ASCEND Leadership Program which was strongly recommended to her by a former CAPACRAO Executive Board member Dr. Kimberly McNair. Johnika has been featured on Season 1, Episode 8 of AACRAO's HEARD Podcast discussing the benefits of AACRAO's ASCEND Program. In 2022, Johnika accepted a new appointment as the Executive Director of K-12 State Programs for Kent State University. Although she transitioned away from the State of Maryland, Johnika retained her appointment as Past-President to fulfill her responsibilities to the current CAPACRAO Board.
